Welcome to our world baby Brenden!! This picture was taken when he is just a few minutes old. Under his hat is a head of dark hair. He is fascinated to see his mommy after only hearing her voice the past few months. As a mom, I had 3 sons & 1 daughter; as a grammie I now have the privilege of having 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson. In October, Hannah will add to the mix with another girl. Josh will have his hands full with a house of girls!!! Being a grammie is the best job in the world!!!

Some of the work I do is to encourage and pass along teaching ideas to incorporate new technologies in the classroom. Students are now writing/creating the web. This was a beautiful video I came across to show how children enjoy sharing on the web.

Since our family is full of former soccer players and now soccer coaches of young children, I love this photo. It reminds me of my children learning to dribble a soccer ball. Soon my grandchildren might be following in their mom or dad's footsteps. Abbi is already enjoying kicking a soccer ball.

Princess Bride

I realize I haven't posted for a long time. I have been busy with school. One of our family's favorite movies is "Princess Bride". When we worked at Camp of the Woods in the Adirondacks, the staff would have "Princess Bride" night. Most of the staff, high school & college, were fans of the movie and everyone would say the lines along with the movie. If you haven't seen the movie, do yourself a favorite and rent it sometime. It has an off sense of humor, but the more times you watch the funnier it is. Here is a trivia quiz I found online for the Princess Bride fan:

Cute hat pattern for Hannah

In the fall, I visited Oregon and a great yarn shop in downtown Portland called Knit Purl.
I found this hat kit, published by www.perlgrey.com which included Fleece Artist Woolie Silk. It is basically a large rectangle which you pick up stitches along on of the long side and the 1st row are live stitches. Then you gather into pleats for the back. Here is a picture of my beautiful daughter and granddaughter, Abbi, showing off the new hat. Very cute pattern. It does tend to slide back on the head--maybe blocking it might help.

When I was visiting Hannah in Oregon earlier this month, I spotted yarn wreaths in Starbucks. All across the country this season, Starbucks are decorating with yarn. On one post, I even saw that they are selling a cable knitted ceramic mug for Christams. Anyway, I got this bright idea to create a similar wreath; after spending too much money on supplies alot of time. I took back most of the materials and gave up on the project. This morning to my surprise, hanging on my front door, was this wreath. My son, Nate, had taken the supplies I was going to ditch and created this beautiful wreath, with a note, "No use wasting a good idea. Love, Nate" This might be one of my best Christmas presents. I am blessed with four great grown children.

Good counsel for me; what would the world be like if everyone followed this advice?

Word Clouds

Have you noticed the word clouds on some blogs or websites? According to Wikipedia, a tag cloud or word cloud "(or weighted list in visual design) is a visual depiction of user-generated tags, or simply the word content of a site, used typically to describe the content of web sites." Wordle is a program was created by Jonathan Feinstein, an employee of IBM.

"Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends."

Cedar Point!!

When Hannah & Josh came to visit with the girls, we decided to make a trip to Cedar Point. My brother Greg came up with my neice, Katie, and nephew, Joey. Larry, Trevor, Jeremy, Emily and Kaelyn and I all went too. I thought it would be fun to rent a big 15 passenger van. So we loaded up the troops and 3 car seats, strollers, snacks and headed off to Cedar Point early in the morning. Nate was already in Ohio on tour so he met us in the parking lot. We had a great day riding rollercoasters. Lilli and Abbi went on their first rollercoaster with Grammie and Grampy. They loved it. We all took turns riding and going with the girls on kiddie rides. We had the best time!! Greg was a wonderful, natural Great Uncle with the girls. Katie and Joey enjoyed being with all of us. Trevor and Hannah have lots of pictures of the day, but I have included this picture of my "kids". Being a mom is great and being a grandma is the greatest!!

Last week was Trevor's birthday. You can see we have a run of birthdays in our family. Hannah's birthday was one week after Trevor's. This will be the beginning of a new chapter for Trevor--a new house! Over the years, Trevor's smile has been so fun! We love you, Trev!!

Lilli's new sweater

Here's a cute picture of the sweater I just finished for Lilli. Silly grandma, I was concentrating so hard on knitting the band on the sweater as I went that I forgot the buttonholes. Some of my knitting friends recommended velcro. But as you can see, a busy little girl doesn't like to close her sweater. Grandma might have to come up with another idea. The sweater is made from a pattern by Minnow Knits and is knit with Plymouth Cotton. Lilli is at the stage of selecting her own outfits every day. This was her "outfit for the day". Grandma especially likes that she thought the sweater smelled good!!
